What is the cause?

Do you actually see cause and effect like when you are looking at a tree? Observe billiards and see the white Cue Ball impacting into the 2 Ball. Then the 2 Ball starts moving while the Cue Ball changed direction slowing down. The conclusion that one ball caused the other to move is not from direct sensory perception though, but rather from the complex process of inference based upon a theory or logical explanation of why it happened. We have this tendency in human nature to seek explanations or the cause of events. Judgments about cause and effect are necessary in understanding our past, the current situation, and trying to forecast the future. A Critical Thinker knows that there are biases in the perception of cause and effect when looking into more complex issues; therefore they can achieve a better understanding of the situation. When considering climate change, most people believe the earth is warming and we have wondered what is really causing it. So we read books and articles by experts to understand what is going on since media pundits are quick to point out the coming apocalypse in 10-20 years if something isn’t done soon. I am pretty sure a couple of decades ago these activists were telling me the same thing, yet here we are. Generally, those doomsayers are really just pushing an agenda instead of accurately trying to examine cause and effect for their explanations. For example, we are being told that switching from plastic bags to paper bags really helps the environment. Those trying to persuade with a simplistic cause and effect will show you pictures of animal life dying due to plastic waste and tell you that it is 100 percent true. However it takes 10-20 times more energy and resources to produce the needed paper bags. That in turn generates more volume of waste as well. So by increasing the waste disposal to deal with the policy change and the exponential increase of resources required from the switch, aren’t we actually doing the opposite? Please give me a “like” and share with others. Thank you for reading.
